Truvia Facts and Information

Unbiased info about Truvia, the new stevia-based sweetener made by Cargill and the Coca Cola company. Note: We are not affiliated with Cargill, the Coca Cola company, or Truvia in any way.

Welcome to the Truvia resource and information hub.  We’ve created the site to keep you informed about Truvia, a new FDA-approved sweetener most notably featured in Coca Cola brand drinks like Sprite and Coke.  Truvia is the consumer name brand for a stevia sweetener and consists of erythritol and Rebiana, both of which contribute to its naturally sweet taste.

Truvia is marketed by a company called Cargill, and was developed together with Coca Cola for the sake of producing it in the company’s beverages as a healthy alternative to sugar and traditional artificial sweeteners found in diet sodas.  Truvia has picked up steam over the course of the last year, especially since its FDA approval.

Like many other new sweeteners on the market, you may be wondering, is Truvia safe?  These are questions we’ll gladly address, based on research that we’ve compiled in our efforts to find out all details about Truvia.

Remember that Truvia comes from the stevia plant, which has known to produce extracts over 300 times as sweet as sugar.  The goodness of Truvia (and stevia) is the fact that it is low in carbohydrates, and therefore low in calories.  Additionally, it comes from a natural substance.

Truvia and stevia have already been used to treat conditions like obesity and high blood pressure, and looks to even be a healthy alternative to sugar for diabetics.  Truvia doesn’t seem to have the same effects on blood sugar levels that traditional sugar does, making it extremely attractive to diabetics.

In addition to the United States, stevia has also been approved in Canada, Australia, and New Zealand.  It is, however, banned for use in the European and Singapore, which both require further research and testing before they’ll be willing to approve it for use in food and drink.

Truvia has recently become popular in a new drink, known as Sprite Green.  The company is billing Sprite Green as a natural, low calorie alternative to regular Sprite.  The Coca Cola company also has plans to introduce it in various additional soft drinks in its product line within the near future.
